SPOT — Transdisciplinary Therapy

One team, one plan, a whole child approach to speech and movement.

SPOT brings Speech Pathology and Occupational Therapy together around shared goals. It may include joint sessions or a primary therapist supported by the broader team, helping families receive coordinated support rather than separate plans working in isolation.

Two therapists, one plan, no gaps

In separate sessions, the speech pathologist and occupational therapist never see the same moment. In SPOT, they work side by side, talking to each other and to you in real time.

One session for the whole child

SPOT brings speech pathology and occupational therapy together in one room. Your child gets two experts working on one plan.

Combined goals

Speech and movement goals are planned together. Your child practises words while moving, just like real life.

One team

Two therapists watch, listen, and adjust in the moment. No waiting for reports between separate sessions.

Whole child

We look at how communication, play, and motor skills connect. Progress in one area supports the others.

Less fatigue

One weekly session instead of two. Kids stay fresh and families save time.

What changes for your child

Real progress comes from treating the whole child, not just one skill.

Communication and movement grow together

Words come easier when the body is calm and coordinated. We build both at once.

Kids feel capable

Success in one area fuels the next. Your child sees what they can do.

The road from first call to real progress

You know your child best. We bring the clinical skills. Together we build a plan that works in the clinic and at home.

  1. 01Start: you call or join the waitlist. We talk about your child and what they need.
  2. 02Assess: both therapists meet your child. We watch, play, and listen before we plan.
  3. 03Plan: we set goals for speech and movement. One plan, written in plain language.
  4. 04Therapy: regular sessions with the team working to one plan. You stay involved the whole time.
  5. 05Review: we check progress together and adjust the plan. No surprises, no waiting for reports.

What a session looks like

Play is the work. Your child leads, we follow with purpose.

You stay in the room

Parents are part of the team. You watch, learn, and practise with us.

Practice that fits your life

We give you small, doable activities for home. Five minutes a day beats an hour of stress.

SPOT FAQs

Who is SPOT for?

SPOT suits children who have goals across both communication and movement. It works well for kids who find separate sessions tiring or who learn best with a whole-body approach.

How long are sessions?

A SPOT session usually runs for one hour.

Is SPOT NDIS funded?

Yes. SPOT can be claimed under your child's NDIS plan for both speech pathology and occupational therapy. We can help you understand your funding.

Can we use Medicare?

Medicare rebates may apply with a care plan from your GP. Ask our team about the current item numbers.

How is this different?

Separate therapies often work on one goal at a time. SPOT lets both therapists plan together so your child practises skills in the way they actually use them.
